The Brooklyn Nets swingman Mikal Bridges could be acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers through trade, so they might want to think about going all in. Despite reports that the Nets aren’t looking to trade him, this is according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
“I think Brooklyn still wants to develop and add talent around Mikal Bridges,” Wojnarowski wrote on January 3 in a Threads post.
They have suffered losses in ten of their previous twelve games and five in a row. They are still on track to make the Play-In Tournament despite their current record of 15-20 and their ranking of ninth in the Eastern Conference Standings. That might indicate that they press for the 27-year-old Bridges to be kept.
Even so, there are still those who are not entirely convinced of that.
As NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin put it on January 3, “This could be true.” If the Nets were attempting to increase their offer for Bridges, they would also leak it.
If at all feasible, the Lakers ought to attempt to keep either Christie or Hood-Schifino, the No. 17 overall pick in the most recent draft, out of the deal. They may also be reluctant to argue much if Brooklyn is adamant about including both prospects.
“Astute Finance” Opposing Mikal Bridges’ Trade to the Lakers
This season, Bridges has averaged 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Compared to his 26.1 point average from his 27 Nets games last season, he has scored less. It is also the second-lowest true shooting percentage of his career, at 56.2%.
But since the Nets have discovered other ways to score, his rebounds and assists have increased.
