Lakers supporters are in favor of the team’s buyout signing of Spencer Dinwiddie and their lack of movement during the trade deadline.
Throughout all of the NBA trade rumors this season, one of the main talking topics was undoubtedly the Lakers. A potential deal involving Dejounte Murray and D’Angelo Russell dominated the talk, but names like Andre Drummond and Tyus Jones also came up.
The Lakers ultimately decided to stick with their current roster because general manager and vice president Rob Pelinka exercised some self-control and refrained from acting just to appear as though he had.
But what do supporters think? The Lakers did well by not playing at their trade deadline performance, per our most recent SB Nation Reacts poll.
Fans gave the Lakers high marks based on the speculations and Pelinka’s explanation for why the team did nothing. Fans believe that the decision to run it back was wise because Russell has been performing so well lately and because trading someone who is possibly only slightly better carries a greater risk.
The fact that the Lakers have won seven of their last ten games and are riding a three-game winning run is also helpful. Perhaps this club can have a run akin to the Lakers’ of last year with the return of Rui Hachimura to the starting lineup and the hopes of Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent.
Pelinka emphasized using the buyout market to target a guard who can handle the ball, and he found Dinwiddie.
