The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly declared to trade 1st-round pick in NBA Draft

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently predicted to select 17th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. This comes after the Los Angeles Lakers’ first-round pick, which was acquired by the New Orleans Pelicans as a result of the Anthony Davis trade, elected to postpone it until a later year.

Bronny James has been associated with Los Angeles due to their first-round selection. He is the son of LeBron James, the NBA legend. There is, of course, a significant relationship here.

The Lakers appear to be in win-now mindset, though. James is probably coming back for a minimum of one more season. Los Angeles has just experienced yet another heartbreaking NBA Playoffs elimination. It needs players who can contribute to the victory as quickly as possible.

For this reason, it comes as no surprise that Sam Vecenie of The Athletic is claiming the Lakers want to trade the 17th pick in exchange for a more comprehensive package that includes a seasoned player.

The supporting cast of Los Angeles behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis accomplished nothing in the previous season. This is a big part of the reason these Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs opening round. It seems logical to add someone who can start contributing right away.
