The Los Angeles Lakers’ Rui Hachimura officially purchased $7.2 million for a house in Encino, among other things.

The Queens, New York, housing market is predicted to do particularly well this year in terms of both demand and price growth, with a few neighborhoods leading the way.

Ridgewood, a Queens neighborhood that borders trendy Bushwick, Brooklyn, topped StreetEasy’s list of “NYC Neighborhoods to Watch,” which was made public on Tuesday by the listing website. The median asking price in Ridgewood was $1.15 million, but searches from buyers and renters increased by almost 11% in the previous year.

It was one of five Queens neighborhoods to appear in the top 10, which also included Hunters Point, which came in at number two. Even though Amazon decided not to proceed with plans to build a second headquarters in the Long Island City waterfront enclave prior to the pandemic, the area nevertheless saw tremendous growth, with searches in Hunters Point rising 9% in 2023 and the median asking price rising by nearly 6% to $1.24 million.

A Los Angeles Lakers star left their Encino home with $7.2 million.

In the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles, basketball player Rui Hachimura, who signed a $51 million contract with the Lakers last year, purchased a contemporary farmhouse-style home. The nearly 7,350-square-foot house, which features Douglas fir, white oak, brushed natural stone, and carbon cold-rolled steel, was purchased by the forward for $7.2 million.
