The Mets and a superstar from the Yankees reportedly have an official agreement to sign during the upcoming summer.

Even if the New York Mets did not make a big splash this offseason, they are still planning to make significant purchases.

Despite spending a lot since Steve Cohen left, New York made no significant moves in the summer following a disappointing 2023 campaign. Still, the Mets are in a better position than they were.

As Spring Training gets underway, the Mets are in a stronger position on paper and have concentrated on signing lesser deals for guys with significant upside.

The 2024 season hasn’t even begun yet, but rumors regarding potential signings for the team in the upcoming offseason have already begun. There will undoubtedly be several intriguing free agents available, with Juan Soto of the New York Yankees likely to be the most desirable.

It’s obvious that he will test free agency, and some already consider the Mets to be among the front-runners to sign Soto, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports.

“The Mets are not only expected to strongly pursue but could be among the favorites for outfielder Juan Soto when he’s a free agent next winter,” Nightengale stated.

The Mets would be better off with Soto in place. With its tremendous financial resources, New York could easily afford to hire him. The 25-year-old, who is still relatively young, is among baseball’s top players.

Although he will play for the Yankees in 2023, there is a potential he will sign with another team in free agency. If the Mets participate in the sweepstakes at all, don’t be shocked.
