On Thursday, the new York Mets made two infielder-related changes. They shipped infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels and acquired utility infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox, both of which involved cash trades. Guillorme was traded to the Angels after appearing in five games at second base, one at shortstop, and pitching one inning of relief for the Braves this season. In 20 at-bats, the 29-year-old Guillorme’s batting average was.150. With a lifetime batting average of.258 he was once a member of the New York Mets, having played there from 2018 to 2023.
The Red Sox had designated 28-year-old Short for assignment on Wednesday, and the Braves acquired him for cash. Short was dealt from the Mets on May 1 and has not collected a hit in seven at-bats with Boston. Previously, on April 26, the Mets designated him for assignment. This season, Short has played a variety of infield positions. In 189 games between the Mets and Detroit (2021-23), he has a career batting average of.177, 13 home runs, 55 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.
