Officially Decided: The Mets reportedly decided to sign superstar Slugger over the upcoming summer.

It appears like the New York Mets will make an attempt to sign a top baseball player over the upcoming offseason.

In a deal with the San Diego Padres, the New York Yankees acquired teenage sensation Juan Soto, perhaps the greatest trade of the offseason.

Long-term Soto retention would be ideal for New York, but it might not work out that way. At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Soto will become a free agent, and it appears like New York will have some competition for his services.

The New York Mets have been considered as a potential fit and could need some assistance in the outfield. With its vast financial resources, New York appears ready to invest them in Soto.

ESPN’s Buster Olney reports that the Mets “fully intend” to pursue Soto, despite the ongoing speculation.

“The most interesting thing heard at Mets’ camp yesterday — and it’s not surprising, given that the (Max Scherzer) contract (and others) will melt off their payroll next winter — is that they fully intend to take a run at Juan Soto next winter,” Olney stated.

The Mets could challenge right away if they could sign Soto, add some pitching depth, and hold onto first baseman Pete Alonso. New York
