Guard Delon Wright Signed to Finalize Miami Heat Roster
Wright’s buyout deal with the Washington Wizards allowed him to become a free agent on Friday, so this move had been expected over the previous two days. But before the Heat could sign him, he had to pass waivers.
The Miami Heat’s roster now contains 15 players on standard contracts, which is the maximum allowed by the NBA, thanks to the addition of Delon Wright. The squad is also now carrying the maximum number of players on two-way contracts, which is three.
The 29-year-old guard, who is renowned for his ability to create plays and defend, is anticipated to add value to the Heat’s backcourt rotation.
The Heat will be able to make roster changes for the remainder of the season only through free agency as the NBA trade deadline of February 8 has passed. A player would have to be released in order to make room on the roster for any future recruits.
