SKY NEWS: The NBA decided to sanction Josh Giddey as a result of the allegations leveled against him.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently one of the most promising young teams in the NBA, with a bright future ahead with players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Josh Giddey leading the way.

Coming into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Thunder were expected to take another step forward, especially with Holmgren ready to start his career in the league

So far, things have gone as planned for the Thunder, with the team sporting an 11-4 record while currently being the second seed in the Western Conference behind the Minnesota Timberwolves (11-3).

Unfortunately for the Thunder, the team was hit with an unexpected distraction recently, with allegations surfacing of Giddey having an inappropriate relationship with a minor, which has launched an investigation by the league, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

This couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Thunder, with the team showing so much promise for a bright future in Oklahoma City, but it is a serious allegation and something that needs to be dealt with right away, especially if Giddey has indeed done something wrong.

It hasn’t been a stellar season for Giddey thus far, as he’s averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 43.5% from the floor and 31% from beyond the arc.

These numbers are significantly lower than they were for Giddey last season, but there’s still time to turn things around if it turns out that there was no wrongdoing off the court.

This story is bound to be an unwanted distraction for the team moving forward, but hopefully, for Giddey and the team’s sake, it is nothing but a mere bump in the road.
