With West Ham’s London Stadium undergoing renovations, the 2024 MLB London Series is firmly on the horizon.
Thursday marks one hundred days until the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies become the newest teams to bring baseball to the English city. The countdown has officially begun.
Perched atop the 100-meter warm-up track in the west stand, the clubhouses include 50 separate lockers for players, manager offices, relaxation rooms, TV screens, and couches.
Not only are both teams’ clubhouses massive, but they will also be fully accessible to a select group of media, and talkSPORT will be present to provide you with interviews and coverage throughout the weekend.
After West Ham’s 2023–24 season is over, it should take about eighteen days for the London Stadium to be converted into a baseball field.
A little over 400 ground crew members from all around the world will be working nonstop to install over 144,000 square feet of artificial turf, build new dugouts, and modify stadium seating.
The pitcher’s mound and diamond will also be constructed using more than 300 tonnes of imported clay from the United States; both the grass and the clay will be properly stored and recycled from the previous season.
Following modifications made following the first London Series, in which the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox, a longtime rival, the entire field would be constructed to standards as near to those of American stadiums as feasible.
