The New York Mets, the Phillies’ to oppose franchise, officially declared their new agreement with their former starter.

The acquisition of All-Star starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen from the Detroit Tigers was the Philadelphia Phillies’ primary trade deadline transaction of the previous season.

He increased their depth in the rotation for the last stretch and increased their arm-usage flexibility throughout the postseason.

Lorenzen, who came in with a 3.58 ERA through 18 starts, had an amazing debut with the Phillies, giving up two runs in eight innings thrown in his first start and pitching a no-hitter in his second.

Regretfully, that marked the right-hander’s zenith in Philadelphia.
