The Nottingham Forest player is finally declared “excellent” by Eddie Howe.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has given his verdict on Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood ahead of the match at the City Ground.

Well, Nottingham Forest will take on Newcastle United at the City Ground in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Chris Wood is one of the best and most important players for Forest, but the former Newcastle striker will not play against the Magpies.

That is because the New Zealand international is injured at the moment. Forest head coach Nuno has said that the striker will miss the next seven to eight weeks with a hamstring injury.

Ahead of the match at the City Ground on Saturday evening, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has raved about Wood.

Howe had the striker at Newcastle, who eventually sold the 32-year-old to Forest for £15 million (The Athletic), and he is pleased that he will not play on Saturday evening.

Wood scored a hat-trick for Forest in their win against Newcastle at St. James’ Park in the Premier League in December.

NewcastleWorld quotes Howe as saying about Wood: “Chris, on the day, did very very well. It was no surprise to us because we knew his qualities.

“He was a brilliant signing for us to help keep us in the division when we were in a difficult position but we’re pleased he’ll be missing.

In my opinion, the injury to Chris Wood is a blow for Nottingham Forest. The striker was just starting to get into form under Nuno, and now he will be out for weeks.

The striker has made nine starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest so far this season. He has scored eight goals and provided one assist in those games.

Taiwo Awoniyi will now have to step up his game and score the goals that Forest need to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
