The president of Salernitana officially reached an agreement with Balotelli to return to the Serie A team.
According to club sources who spoke to Tutto, Salernitana is in talks to sign Italian striker Balotelli during the January transfer window.
“He was an idea for Salernitana; there was more than just a chat,” the “very influential” sources within the club stated, adding that nothing will actually happen in the end. These are the same individuals who, according to the report, worked to have Filippo Inzaghi appointed as Salernitana’s new coach in October of last year.
The report claims that Salernitana and Balotelli’s group had new communication on Tuesday. The two did not shake hands because the striker allegedly agreed to sign a contract with Salernitana that would have paid him more than what Salernitana was willing to pay.
Though he only had a 5% chance of doing so, Balotelli’s agent, Enzo Raiola, revealed last week that his client could have made a comeback to Serie A in January, where he had previously played for Inter, Milan, and Brescia.
