The president of the New York Mets and their agent reportedly give their  approval of a $15 million as an offer is expected to be finalized.

All-Star designated hitter JD Martinez and the New York Mets are reportedly still in talks, but a deal is unlikely to be reached because the team reportedly never planned to spend much money on upgrading the DH position for 2024.

Throughout the winter, the Mets were very busy. Regretfully, team supporters have not been overly thrilled by the additions of Sean Manaea, Jake Diekman, Harrison Bader, and Luis Severino. For a variety of reasons, the organization has been frugal with its finances this winter even though its owner is the richest in baseball. Fans are still holding out hope that the team makes one significant move prior to the commencement of spring training.All-Star JD Martinez is one player who has been the subject of rumors. Martinez would seem to be a terrific addition to the lineup and position, as the Mets did not see much success from the DH position last season. A deal seems unlikely, even though a recent report stated the team is still in contact with the 36-year-old’s representatives. This week, “there has been dialogue between JD Martinez’s camp and the Mets,” according to a report earlier by MLB insider Mike Puma of the New York Post. Talks “have not yet brought them anywhere near that sweet spot, according to multiple league sources,” SNY Mets reporter Andy Martino asserted on Thursday. The most annoying thing about Martino’s report is that, based on impact players’ current going rates at the position thus far, the organization has never been in the market for a full-time DH this offseason. Despite not even playing in the previous season, Rhys Hoskins was able to secure a two-year, $34 million contract from the Milwaukee Brewers this winter. Martinez should receive a lot more.
According to a recent report, the organization has ` set aside for possible trades ahead of this summer’s MLB trade deadline. According to Martino, a deal with Martinez would only happen if the team modifies their position regarding the amount of money they wish to spend on the player or if the six-time All-Star significantly lowers his asking price.
