The supporters of the New York Mets are incredibly devoted. When you do well and they like you, they will clap for you and scream your name. You will pay the consequences if you disappoint them or if they just don’t like you for any reason. These three Mets players were mocked and were genuinely almost criminally underappreciated by the team’s supporters.
Notwithstanding the suffering Dwight Gooden caused the fans and the New York Mets organization, he will always be cherished for his role as Doctor K. Fans love Ron Darling, especially as a commentator, even if he was not the dominant ace on any other staff despite his many victories as a Met. David Cone—oh, Coney—saved his finest games for the Yankees despite having a couple successful seasons as a Met. The supporters adore and beg for Frankie Viola to return to the team as a coach; nevertheless, he only enjoyed one successful season following his acquisition in a deal that cost the Mets Rick Aguilera.
Blake Snell: where will he end up?
Remarkably, the two-time Cy Young Award winner is still up for grabs. Snell flourished during his final three seasons with the San Diego Padres. His 2.25 ERA led the National League in 2023, and he went on to win his second Cy Young Award.
Even though the New York Yankees have surfaced as a potential alternative on several occasions at this point, they should still be regarded as doubtful due to the significant tax implications for the team.
Despite this, Jon Heyman of the New York Post notes that New York is still frequently cited as one of the best places to land.

Snell would be a fantastic addition to New York, money permitting. With him, the Yankees would have maybe the greatest starting pitching tandem in baseball. If the rotation could match the offense, New York would be among the favorites to win the World Series.
The tax implications make the Yankees an improbable choice, but at least the idea of Snell wearing pinstripes is appealing.
