The unofficial start of the NBA trade season begins later this month, when players signed last summer can be traded. On December 15th, most offseason contracts are up for negotiation. Some others won’t go on sale until January. As the trade winds start to pick up and you start stuffing bogus trade ideas into trade machines, here’s a look at when the Miami Heat can deal newly signed players. The following Heat players cannot be traded until December 15th Josh Richardson: Signed a two-year, $5.9 million contract in the summer with a player option in the second year. His base salary this season is $2.9 million. Richardson averaged 10.5 points and 3.1 assists in 27.6 minutes. Thomas Bryant: Signed a two-year, $5.4 million contract with a player option on the second year. He has a $2.7 million base salary that can be used in a trade. Bryant has played in 13 games for the Heat and is averaging 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 12.9 minutes, but has recently lost his place in the rotation. Orlando Robinson: Signed a two-year, $3.9 million contract that becomes fully guaranteed on Jan. 10. The second year is out of warranty. Robinson’s base salary this season is $1.8 million. He averaged 7.2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 16 minutes and started at center in place of the recently injured Bam Adebayo. The following Heat players cannot be traded until January Kevin Love (January 15): Signed a two-year, $7.9 million contract with a player option for the second year. He will make $3.8 million this season and won’t be dealt until January. 15. Love is averaging 7.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 33.3% 4.3 three pointers per game. Dru Smith (Jan. 21): Signed a two-year, $3.9 million contract that was fully guaranteed after being sidelined for the season with a sprained ACL. He can be traded in January. 21 and his contract for next season is not guaranteed. Smith averaged 4.3 points and 1.6 assists in nine games before being injured on Nov. 22 in Cleveland.
