Tottenham Hotspur are set To Re-Sign £90m for an excellent Defender:

In a recent print edition, Sport stated that Tottenham Hotspur are still trying to re-sign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet this summer. It has been revealed that Spurs are in ‘intense negotiations’ to bring the French centre-half back to North London in this off-season

The 28-year-old experienced a solid loan spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the previous campaign as he put in a series of dominant performances at the centre of Spurs’ backline. Lenglet scored once and picked up a couple of assists in 35 appearances for the c club last season on all fronts.

The French sensation caught the eye with his defensive contributions based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. Lenglet’s current deal at his parent club Barcelona will expire in 2026. However, Barca need to sell off some of their fringe players to cope with their financial struggles which could open the door for Tottenham to land him this summer.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Lenglet Up This Summer?

Lenglet is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger quickly to make a few timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and excels at playing his way out from the back.

The 15-time France international can even use his strong 1.86m frame to win a few aerial duels. He already knows Tottenham well from his loan spell at the North London club last season and won’t take any time to settle into life in English football.

At 28, Lenglet is playing in his prime which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue during this summer transfer window. Therefore, Angelos Postecoglu would be wise to snap the French talent before the start of the new campaign as he could help the London outfit compete for a top-four place in the Premier League over the next few years.
