Tottenham have already made five summer signings for new boss Ange Postecoglou and there is still cautious optimism that Harry Kane could yet stay put this season.
Tottenham are in advanced talks to land highly-rated 19-year-old forward Alejo Veliz from Argentinian side Rosario Central. Daniel Levy and the Spurs recruitment team are seeking to shake off fierce competition from Italy where AC Milan, Lazio and Napoli have been hot in pursuit of the teenage gem, who is quickly emerging as one of the best prospects in South America.
Veliz first broke into Rosario’s first team back in the 2021 campaign but he has quickly established himself as an integral player in attack for his current employers.
He netted eight times in 32 Argentine Primera Division matches last season and has since bettered that total with 11 goals in 23 outings this term.
As per multiple reports from Europe and South America, Spurs are now pressing to conclude a deal imminently – even if they may endure a wait to welcome Veliz to north London.
That’s because although Rosario are willing to strike an agreement now, they want to keep their highly-coveted gem for the remainder of the season.
It means if they were to shake hands on the deal, Veliz would not be expected to depart the club until the January transfer window in early 2024.
Veliz is also a regular at international level for Argentina’s U20 side and featured at the U20 World Cup in his homeland back in May, netting twice during the tournament.
Tottenham evidently believe they could be about to get their hands on a huge prospect that could have a big future within the game.
Negotiations will continue towards an agreement in the coming days but other deals are also being finalised in the background.
