To make sure of the transfer, Tottenham could send Pape Matar Sarr in the opposite direction. The midfielder has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, but has admirers in Istanbul, according to Fanatik.
Whether that move would be a loan or permanent deal remains to be seen, but there is a confidence that the other way, Nelsson coming to Tottenham has been agreed.
The Denmark international has never played in the Premier League before, but could be about to get that opportunity with Tottenham at the age of 24.
Tottenham to clear out Tanganga for Nelsson
While he prepares to arrive in the Premier League, someone who could depart is Japhet Tanganga. The academy graduate has struggled to make an impression for Spurs this season.
According to Fussball Transfers, Tanganga has been the subject of five enquiries from clubs in Germany. His list of suitors consists of Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger, Stuttgart and Union Berlin.
Tottenham are hoping to earn up to €13.8m (£12m) by selling Tanganga (their lowest price would be €11.5m or £10m), although there is a feeling he would prefer to continue in the Premier League when choosing his next club.
Besides, Hamburger wouldn’t be able to afford Tanganga’s price tag. His other four admirers would, though.
Now, Tanganga will have to wait to see if he can generate interest from English clubs. If not, he could become the next player to leave these shores to develop in Germany instead. If Tottenham end up replacing Tanganga with Nelsson, their net spend on that particular upgrade could be in the region of £9m.
