TRANSFER REPORT: Liverpool set to repeat Fabinho transfer for another ace with same benefit as Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool could replace Fabinho from the same club they signed him from and in return also repeat Dominik Szoboszlai’s transfer to solve Jürgen Klopp’s big headache.

Liverpool looks to be starting the season with plenty of questions left unsolved in the transfer market. Having started an impressive flurry with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, in the last month that rate of business has stalled despite departures to the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

That is a far from ideal situation for Jürgen Klopp, who would have preferred to have wrapped up all his new arrivals by the opening game of the season against Chelsea.

There are few competent holding midfielders in the market which makes Jörg Schmadtke’s job even more difficult. But perhaps there might be a relatively easy solution who could work in Fabinho’s role, who plays for the same club the Brazilian was signed from, and who has something in common with a lot of Liverpool transfers in the last few years.

AS Monaco’s Mohamed Camara is one of the rare holding midfielders who might just be an adequate replacement for Fabinho. Still only 23 years old, the Malian international has enjoyed a solid campaign in France, and he has the ability to go even further in his career.

And he could also be an ideal fit for Klopp’s style of football at Liverpoo

A product of the Red Bull system, just like Dominik Szoboszlai and countless other Liverpool acquisitions over the years, Camara spent almost five years at Red Bull Salzburg and has honed the gegenpressing system deployed at the club.

He is a pressing machine who reads the game intelligently and can win a high volume of defensive duels. Last season in Ligue 1, Camara averaged an impressive 9.26 successful defensive actions per 90 minutes for Monaco, as per Wyscout.

Often playing as part of a double pivot, Camara slotted into the left side, where he would likely also play at Liverpool alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold.
