Liverpool transfer news: The Reds have reportedly made a $77m offer for a Real Madrid midfielder while FSG has also supposedly explored a highly unlikely $300m move.
While Liverpool supporters enjoy a rest from the relentless football calendar, the attention has switched to who might come in to supplement Jürgen Klopp’s squad ahead of the new campaign kicking off.
The first Liverpool players will return for day one of a long pre-season in just over a week’s time, with many more having slightly longer off after competing for their countries at international level.
But so far, the transfer market has not quite ignited. Liverpool has signed Alexis Mac Allister and more players will follow him through the door, but few other significant moves have been announced
Perhaps when the first major-money deal goes through, that could kickstart something of a domino effect, with no bigger name potentially on the market than PSG and France forward Kylian Mbappé

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, with two huge names being linked with possible moves to Anfield.
Fede Valverde (Real Madrid)
Real Madrid’s midfield is certainly jam-packed with the addition of Jude Bellingham this summer, the likes of Luka Modrić already at the club, and Aurélien Tchouaméni having picked the La Liga side over Liverpool last summer.
But it would be a surprise, nonetheless, to see Fede Valverde sold. The 24-year-old Uruguayan would be an ideal fit under Jürgen Klopp, but getting him out of Real Madrid would be a very difficult ask.
Despite that, Spanish outlet El Nacional reports that, supposedly having had a bid worth $99m (£77m/€90m) rejected last summer, Liverpool has returned this summer with a new lower offer of just $77m (£60m/€70m).
