Manchester City will return with an offer of £60million for Matheus Nunes, according to reports.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil confirmed the Molineux club have rejected an initial offer from City for their midfielder. That bid was reportedly £47m.
City want to sign another midfielder in the wake of Kevin de Bruyne’s serious injury. Nunes and Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze have been earmarked as potential targets.
According to Football Insider, City will return with another offer for Nunes, valuing him at £60m. The report claims City are confident the package will be enough to tempt Wolves into a sale.

Wolves have already parted with Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins and Raul Jimenez this window to raise funds for Financial Fair Play. While they don’t have to sell more players, a departure would free up funds for O’Neil to sign his own players.
Elsewhere, City defender Luke Mbete is closing in on a move to Dutch side Den Bosch, according to Mail Online. The Englishman spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town and then Bolton Wanderers.
Mbete was part of the City squad that won the FA Youth Cup in 2020 and has gone on to make his first team debut. He has featured three times for Guardiola’s senior side.
It’s now said he will get a taste of the Netherlands’ second division to further his football development. City have not been adverse to sending their young talent into Europe.
