Udinese striker Beto is a target for Everton, although they could face competition from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest for his signature, according to Messaggero Veneto.
The Italian news outlet reported online (14 August) that the Toffees are considering making a loan offer for Beto, which would include an obligation to buy the player for £50.5million
However, Nottingham Forest are also thinking about making a move for the 25-year-old Portuguese striker.
Beto arrived in Serie A in the summer of 2021 on loan and scored 11 goals in 28 appearances during his debut campaign in Italy. His stay with Udinese was made permanent and throughout his second season with the club, he scored 10 times and provided one assist in 33 top-flight matches.
Time to act
If Sean Dyche’s side are considering an offer, and Nottingham Forest are lurking in the background, then they will need to act fast as the Reds have shown since arriving in the Premier League that they are not afraid to get the chequebook out.
Both clubs finished in a similar position in the league last season and if Beto was made to choose between the two Premier League sides, the choice could come down to how much money either team can offer him. If this were to be the case, it would be difficult for Everton to compete.
Therefore, if they are weighing up a move then now is the time to act, before Forest join the race officially. Dyche is in desperate need of firepower going forward and the Udinese striker has shown he can score consistently at the highest level.
It is time for the Toffees to move, and move fast with the Premier League season already underway and Dyche’s men once again failing to find the back of the net during their opening day 1-0 defeat at home to Fulham.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano has suggested the club are happy after some crazy transfer developments.
