However, there are some players who leave him even more thankful than others. One such player is A.J. Brown.
SirNianni expressed his gratitude to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie after witnessing Brown’s incredible performance in practice.
He couldn’t believe he would ever say it, but he thanked Lurie for investing $100 million in Brown. This investment proved to be one of the best Lurie has ever made.
“I thought I would never say this, but (last) week A.J. (Brown) was having an unbelievable practice,” Sirianni said. “And I went up to Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie (the Eagles owner) — and there’s no way I ever thought this would come out of my mouth — I go ‘Thanks for the 100 million dollars to pay A.J. Brown. I really appreciate that.’”
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Eagles made a significant move by trading their first- and third-round picks to the Tennessee Titans for the star receiver.
As part of the deal, Brown was given a four-year, $100 million contract with $56.5 million guaranteed.
This was an astounding investment, considering the Eagles had selected receiver DeVonta Smith just a year earlier after trading up in the draft.
The results of this investment have been nothing short of extraordinary. Brown set a franchise record last season with 88 catches for an impressive 1,436 yards and 11 touchdowns.
And this season, he’s on track to surpass those numbers. In just five weeks, Brown has already made a historic impact with 41 catches for 701 yards and three touchdowns.
Brown’s performance against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night further solidified his status as one of the league’s best receivers.
With 10 catches and 137 yards, he has now achieved over 125 receiving yards in five consecutive games. This ties the NFL record set by two former Detroit Lions receivers, Pat Studstill in 1966 and Calvin Johnson in 2012.
Sirianni couldn’t help but praise Brown’s abilities, describing him as a phenomenal player.
“A.J. is a phenomenal player,” Sirianni said. “He just has this unbelievable ability to come down with the football. Nobody catches the ball as pretty as A.J. Brown.”
“He possesses an incredible talent to come down with the football, and nobody catches the ball as gracefully as A.J. Brown.”
