In a significant development within the NHRA community, John Force Racing has announced that 16-time Funny Car champion John Force will not participate in the 2025 racing season. This decision stems from the severe injuries Force sustained during a high-speed crash at Virginia Motorsports Park in June 2024. The accident resulted in a traumatic brain injury, necessitating an extended period of recovery.

Following the incident, Force dedicated himself to rehabilitation and made a public appearance at the Nevada Nationals in October 2024, marking his first return to the racing environment since the accident. Despite his determination, medical evaluations have indicated that a full return to competitive racing in 2025 would not be feasible. Consequently, Force has opted to prioritize his health and continue his recovery away from the track.

In light of Force’s absence, John Force Racing has appointed Jack Beckman, the 2012 NHRA Funny Car champion, as his replacement for the upcoming season. Beckman stepped in as a substitute driver for the final eight races of the 2024 season, achieving notable success by securing two victories and elevating the team’s standing from sixth to second place. His impressive performance has led to a full-time driving role with the team in 2025.

The team’s primary sponsor, Old World Industries, has reaffirmed its commitment to John Force Racing by extending its partnership through a multi-year agreement. This extension includes primary sponsorship of the Peak Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet, underscoring the sponsor’s confidence in the team’s direction and Beckman’s capabilities.

John Force expressed his support for Beckman’s appointment, stating, “Beckman’s doing the job for PEAK and BlueDEF. I’m still going to therapy every week and working as hard as I can to get back out there with the sponsors and the fans in a sport I love and I miss.” He emphasized his ongoing commitment to recovery and his desire to return to the sport in the future.

Jack Beckman, reflecting on his new role, conveyed his enthusiasm: “I am thrilled to continue a partnership with PEAK and BlueDEF and look forward to returning to JFR in 2025. As a car enthusiast, I believe in using the best products available for both personal and professional applications. PEAK and BlueDEF products are trusted for our support vehicles and haulers, ensuring reliability and performance.”

The NHRA community has shown strong support for Force during his recovery. Fans and fellow racers alike have expressed their well-wishes, hoping for his swift return to the track. In the meantime, the focus shifts to Beckman as he prepares to lead John Force Racing in the 2025 season.

This transition marks a significant moment for the team, balancing the legacy of its founder with the fresh energy and proven talent of Beckman. As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on John Force Racing to see how they navigate this new chapter in their storied history.
