VERY BAD:The New York Mets general manager rejected the $5 food and beverage promotion following

The New York Mets are launching a $5 Tuesday promotion for various food and beverage items at Citi Field that will last through the end of the regular season.

 

The $5 items include 12 oz. Coors Light draft beer, 22 oz. fountain sodas, 20 oz. bottled water, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, regular soft pretzels and popcorn boxes. The promotion begins when the Mets host the Washington Nationals on July 9 at 7:10 p.m. ET and will be valid for the other five remaining Tuesday home games, though the team notes quantity limits will apply.

 

In a statement Tuesday explaining the move, the Mets said they “wanted to create an attractive offer that caters to the adult crowd” and “are taking a test and learn approach to understanding what our fans love. We will continue to experiment to provide our fans with a best-in-class experience.

 

Earlier in the season the Mets hosted a $1 hot dog night on a Tuesday in a game against the Chicago Cubs that drew 22,880. Three other Tuesday games at Citi Field drew extremely well because of the quality of the opponent. The Mets had 42,824 fans in attendance for a Subway Series game against their cross-borough rival Yankees, 36,021 for a game against the Dodgers and 30,046 for an NL East game against the Phillies. The other two Tuesday game drew smaller crowds, 22,070 vs. the Marlins and 18,398 vs. the Pirates.

 

According to ticket marketplace VividSeats, Tuesday games at Citi Field had an average sold price of $58, making it the second-highest weekday behind Wednesday, which had a $66 average sold price.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to Baseball Reference, the Mets are averaging about 27,000 fans per home game in 2024, which ranks 19th in MLB. Last season, the Mets finished a few spots higher at No. 14 with an average of 31,772 fans. Citi Field seats 41,922. The Mets have won 13 of their last 17 games to improve their record to 41-41. They sit third in the NL East behind the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies and just 1.5 games out of the third NL Wild-Card spot.
