After spending 2022 in the minor leagues and most of 2021 in Mexico, the 33-year-old right-hander played for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023.
Teherán inked a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles in February, only to opt out a month later. After being granted his release, Teherán spent 10 days in free agency and then landed with the Mets.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that Teherán will start for New York in their series opener against the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
Teherán spent nine seasons with the Braves, where he established his reputation. Between 2013 and 2019, he made two appearances in the All-Star game and finished fourth in baseball with 222 starts.
Teherán had an overall record of 81-82, a 3.83 ERA, a 1.219 WHIP, 1,257 strikeouts, and a 19.9 WAR in his career.
