Vikings officially terminate their $76 million playmaker trade agreement due to health concerns.

A new story claims that the Minnesota Vikings pulled out of an agreement to sign standout cornerback L’Jarius Sneed of the Kansas City Chiefs during peak free agency because of health concerns.

The Vikings “considered sending the Chiefs a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick in exchange for Sneed, but they discontinued discussion due to his medical history,” according to Pete Sweeney, the editor-in-chief of Arrowhead Pride, who reported on March 29.

In order for Sneed to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, a deal would have needed the Vikings to sign him to an extension. In 2023, Sneed was mentioned in 20 out of 22 weekly injury reports.

The only deal on the table for Sneed, according to Sweeney, was to trade him to the Tennessee Titans after he passed his physical. Darren Wolfson, KSTP’s Vikings beat reporter, responded to the report by saying that while Sneed had a “genuine desire” to play for Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, he never felt the Vikings were “aggressive” in their pursuit of Sneed—likely because of conflicting feelings regarding Sneed’s injury history.
