Goal journalist Marc Mechenoua is reporting that Chrislain Matsima (21) is set to leave AS Monaco this summer. Serie A side Udinese are leading the race for the Frenchman’s signature.
Monaco are in need of centre-backs and have made concrete advances to sign Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo. However, Les Monégasques could lose another defender in the near future. According to Mechenoua, Matsima is set to leave the Principality club. Whilst the Frenchman was close to signing for Villarreal, Udinese have made a move to scupper the transfer, and are now leading the race.
Matsima has failed to nail down at starting place at Monaco. He spent the first part of last season on loan at FC Lorient but failed to break into the first team. Following Benoît Badiashile’s move to Chelsea, Matsima then returned to Monaco, and due to a lack of depth, featured prevalently in the run-in. With Axel Disasi also expected to depart this summer, Matsima could have seen his first-team opportunities increased, but he now looks set to depart.
