West Ham have made contact with Rennes over potentially signing Adrien Truffert, sources have told Football Insider.
The London club are in the market for a new left-back as they prepare to let go Aaron Cresswell.
Truffert, 21, has been shortlisted as a potential replacement by West Ham’s recruitment team.
Rennes are keen to secure the defender to a new and improved contract, and talks have got underway.
But should a deal not be agreed, they could be open to accepting an offer for Truffert, who is valued at around £15million.
Truffert has already played 87 times in Ligue 1 and has European experience, including five Champions League appearances, all at the age of 21.
An injury in March kept the defender out for the remainder of the season, a real blow as he appeared to be cementing his position as the club’s first-choice left-back, having started 24 of his 28 league appearances last season.
He has scored four times and provided 14 assists so far in his career and has already made his debut for the France national team.
Truffert’s current Rennes contract runs until June 2025, the full-back made his first appearance for the French side in 2020.
Alongside his impressive club career, Truffert has also featured for the French national team, having made one appearance for Les Bleus.
The defender was also a regular for the youth international sides, having played for France at under-18, under-19 and under-21 levels.
