Why Pope Francis smiled as he got a look at the #23 jersey.

VATICAN CITY (WFIE) – Well, that worked out.

 

Kentucky Priest, Father Jim Sichko, was able to meet Pope Francis Friday during a trip to Italy, and he brought part of the Bluegrass state with him.

 

Father Sichko lives in Lexington, where the UK Wildcats are newly coached by Mark Pope.

 

He shared photos of himself presenting a “Pope” jersey to… well… The Pope.

 

 

Pope Francis smiled as he got a look at the #23 jersey.

 

Father Sichko’s tweet has been shared dozens of times.

 

“Kentucky landing all the Popes,” one person said.

 

“Can we now wear jerseys to Mass?” said another.
