Liverpool Latest News.
Liverpool-linked Kylian Mbappe would reject the idea of joining Manchester City to team up with Erling Haaland.
In a sensational turn of events, Mbappe looks set to be on the market this summer. After deciding not to trigger an option in his contract, he now has just one year remaining on his deal at PSG. Inevitably, the Spanish press have already installed Liverpool as one of the favourites to land the Frenchman
They claim that PSG are furious at how Mbappe has handled the situation. The Ligue 1 champions reportedly now want him gone this summer. Real Madrid are obviously the clear front-runners should that happen, but it’s said to be ‘by no means guaranteed’ that the 24-year-old will end up in Spain.
Instead, the idea of a move to the Premier League would reportedly appeal to Mbappe. There’s claimed to be a ‘number of clubs’ he’d look at joining in England
However, it seems that Man City are not one of them. Despite Pep Guardiola’s side having just won the treble, Mbappe is said to be unlikely to want to link up with star City striker Haaland. Instead, the France international could reportedly see himself joining a different English side and doing battle with the Norwegian. Interesting months ahead, then.
No matter what is reported about Mbappe potentially leaving PSG and where he’ll end up, the reality feels inevitable. Either he’ll stay and sign a new deal, or he’ll go to Real Madrid.
That has always felt like the way things would pan out, even though reports claim that Kylian does seriously like Liverpool.
Well, Mbappe may very well see himself at an English side. He may even like that to be Liverpool. But the truth of the matter is that the Reds simply can’t afford him right now.
The move had felt unlikely enough last year when the World Cup winner was a free agent. With PSG likely to demand a nine-figure fee for Mbappe, it now seems like an impossibility.
Besides, would Liverpool even want the PSG star? It might sound like a strange question, he’s clearly ‘world-class,’ as Virgil van Dijk recently said. But these sagas have been happening pretty much non-stop for the last three years.
PSG have put up with his antics for that long because he’s simply that good. But even they’ve now grown tired of their No.7’s behaviour. You really can’t imagine Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool entertaining such distractions.
