Yankees and the Mets have officially agreed to share ownership of the $950 million economic impact processing.

Not only are the New York Yankees (12-4) ahead of the Mets (7-8) in Queens on the pitch, but the Bronx Bombers are expected to have a greater economic impact on New York City this season—roughly $250 million more than their crosstown opponent.

According to a recent report released on April 9 by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the city’s economy is anticipated to benefit $606 million from Yankees home games in 2024. According to the same analysis, the 2024 regular season will result in an economic impact of $353 million from New York Mets home games.

“Through deep playoff runs, we hope to add even more to that,” NYC Mayor Eric Adams stated in a press release. “The Yankees and Mets will not only provide New York City with some of the most exciting games of the summer, but will support local businesses, create jobs, and generate nearly a billion dollars in economic impact.”

Yankees Outscore Mets in Attendance and Ticket Prices
The Bronx’s predicted increased attendance and higher ticket prices for Yankee home games are expected to have a greater economic impact than those of the Mets, according to NYCEDC.

According to ESPN’s 2024 MLB attendance tracker, the Yankees have drawn an average crowd of 39,279 for home games this season, which is second only to the Dodgers. That is a lot more people than the 24,391 average attendance the Mets have had at Citi Field this season.
