It’s the John Mateer era at Oklahoma after the Sooners landed the former Washington State quarterback via the transfer portal this winter. It will be a new-look offense for the Sooners outside of the change under center as Brent Venables and Co. added four transfer wideouts and lost its top tight end to the portal this offseason. Mateer will have improved weapons at his disposal. Here are the players poised to make the biggest impacts…
Burks was Oklahoma’s biggest addition in last year’s transfer portal cycle, but he never got going this past season as a thigh contusion and concussion limited him to just five games. Still, the Purdue transfer ranked third on the team with 238 receiving yards, averaging a team-best 47.6 yards per game.
