DeSantis finally Signs Bill Prohibiting Local Workers Heat Security Measures

This Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that forbids local governments from mandating worker safeguards against heat exposure. This law may result in an increase in workers’ compensation claims from injured workers.

Simultaneously, the state Department of Financial Services declared the detention of a Miami labor supplier, accusing him of falsifying payroll records for his workers’ compensation insurance provider. Titan Industry USA Corp.’s owner, Jordan A. Novo, hid his genuine salary in order to avoid paying more than $109,000 in premiums, according to a statement released by Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis on Thursday.
