Former New York Mets pitcher Ron Darling officially declared ownership’s handling of the team in one word.

Pitcher Ron Darling is most commonly associated with the New York Mets, for whom he frequently delivers analysis on SNY, among other teams.

Darling did, however, play parts of five seasons with the Oakland Athletics in the later stages of his baseball career. With the exception of a 1992 division title, the clubs he played for weren’t very good, but he added 37 victories to round off a respectable career.

Due to his past with the Athletics, Darling was uniquely qualified to respond to the news that the team would soon be temporarily moving to Sacramento when it was announced on Thursday before the Mets’ game against the Detroit Tigers.

When asked about his thoughts on the move, Darling responded, “I have to say, being a guy that wore that uniform, just appalled at the things that have happened in the last six months with that organisation.”

Ron Darling played with the Oakland A’s from 1991 to 1995, but he is best remembered for his tenure with the New York Mets. Darling, who formerly wore the A’s uniform, added that he is “appalled” by the organization’s misdeeds over the previous six months.

Nevada, California, and other states have criticised Oakland for its tardy relocation to Las Vegas.

The team will play in Sacramento from 2025–2027, with the possibility to stay until 2028 while construction is underway on their new ballpark in Las Vegas, according to the Athletics.
