Liverpool transfer date set for Ryan Gravenberch deal after Jurgen Klopp demand

Liverpool are confident they will sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch before the summer transfer window closes following the signing of Wataru Endo

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident that the club will secure the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch this summer.

Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Dutch ace, as Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag gave the player his debut at Ajax and helped develop his talents. However, it is the Merseyside Reds who have a more advanced interest and a £20million deal is on the cards.

Bayern Munich: AC Milan interested in Ryan Gravenberch

The midfielder only joined Bayern from Ajax last summer in a £21m move, but Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka blocked his path to the starting line-up. He made just three Bundesliga starts last season and did not play a full 90 minutes in a domestic match last season.

Gravenberch is desperate to avoid a repeat of that campaign and with Bayern completing the signing of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on a four-year deal, and boss Thomas Tuchel keen to add a specialist holding midfielder, they are willing to cash in on the midfielder if they can recoup his transfer fee.

Earlier this summer, Gravenberch clarified that any update on his own future will be delivered after the Under-21 European Championships – the competition concluded last month, but it was a comment that suggested that the midfielder was open to a departure.

He explained to De Telegraaf: “It may be that there are plans with me. I haven’t really talked to the coach about that yet, that will come after the [Under-21] European Championship when I’m back from Georgia and Romania. Then we will see how it is.”

A report from Bild has now outlined how a move to Anfield is very much on, with Klopp said to be confident a deal will be concluded before the end of the summer transfer window. No bid has yet been lodged, but with the club concluding the signing of midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart – the Reds may now make their move.

The exits of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has left the Reds light on midfield numbers with one further player in that position likely to be added within the next fortnight.
