Before the international break, Michael O’Neill, the manager of Northern Ireland, provided an update on the status of injured Rangers star Steven Davis.
The midfield player suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury last December, which has kept him sidelined for both club and country.

Before the team named Philippe Clement as their new manager, Davis most recently served as the Gers’ temporary manager in the dugout.
Before their two Euro 2024 qualifiers this month, Northern Ireland manager O’Neill has now provided an update on injured players Davis and Stuart Dallas of Leeds United.
According to O’Neill, “It would be nice just to see him (Dallas) around again,” as cited by BBC Sport on November 8. “Steven is the same; he may visit for the Denmark game, I believe. Simply seeing the two boys return would, in my opinion, cheer everyone up.
The fact that Davis was trusted to be thrown straight into the deep end at Ibrox following the sacking of Michael Beale speaks volumes as to what those at the club think of him.
The veteran midfielder is clearly very highly regarded in Glasgow, and may just land another important role behind the scenes soon.
There is, however, still a chance that he can recover from his unfortunate injury and get back on the pitch to help Clement’s side.
O’Neill’s latest comments meanwhile also prove how special and important Davis is for the Northern Ireland national team. They have really missed their captain and leader in recent times, with the young group of players struggling lately.
Simply having the Gers ace around the camp may just be the boost that they need in order to finish off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign as strongly as possible, with Finland and Denmark their remaining fixtures.
