PSG forward Kylian Mbappé has been advised to join Liverpool over Chelsea this summer with one report claiming a one-year loan move to Anfield could be possible.
Marcel Desailly has weighed in on the uncertain future of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé, saying that he believes Liverpool would be a better fit for the talented forward than Chelsea.
Desailly, who himself had the opportunity to join Liverpool in 1998 but ultimately chose Stamford Bridge instead, shared his insights on Mbappé’s potential transfer destination in an interview with BoyleSports. Mbappé’s situation at PSG has become increasingly complicated, with the French club exiling him from the first team due to his refusal to sign a contract extension.
It is believed that a pre-signing agreement with Real Madrid is the cause of this stand-off, leading PSG to consider parting ways with the 24-year-old. Reports via The Mirror suggest that a one-year loan deal could be on the cards, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea
Desailly believes that Liverpool is currently a more suitable option for Mbappé, who could be a replacement for Sadio Mané. The France World Cup winner says that unlike Chelsea, Liverpool is not at the end of a cycle and has managed to retain a strong foundation to Jürgen Klopp’s squad
“They did not replace Mané with someone who was going to be as good, someone who had his philosophy and impact. I do believe Liverpool could suit Mbappé to fill that hole.”
Interestingly, Desailly revealed that he had considered joining Liverpool in 1998 when he received a tempting proposal from the club. However, personal reasons led him to choose Chelsea instead
“Liverpool is not at the end of a cycle,” he said. “The choice he has to make is not one or two years but four or five, so when reports talk about a one-year loan, I don’t see that.
“Liverpool have not sold most of their players, they have managed to keep a foundation at Anfield. They had a drop after many years of doing well, which was linked to selling Sadio Mané
