Red Sox Star, Tyler O’Neill rejected Pirates offer and Signs Three-Year, $45 Million Deal with Mets

The Boston Red Sox’s Tyler O’Neill has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the New York Mets worth $45 million. O’Neill, a power-hitting outfielder, was a key offensive contributor for the Red Sox in 2024 after joining the team via trade from the St. Louis Cardinals. Despite injury challenges, he showcased his talent with a .955 OPS over a stretch late in the season, solidifying his reputation as a valuable right-handed slugger.

The move signifies a loss for Boston, which had benefited from O’Neill’s ability to thrive at Fenway Park. For the Mets, O’Neill’s addition adds depth to their lineup as they aim to rebound from a challenging season. His power-hitting prowess and defensive skills make him an asset as New York retools its roster for 2025.
