As far as trade rumors involving Pat Riley and the Miami Heat are concerned, we all know that history sometimes repeats itself. It was demonstrated by Kyle Lowry, a player the Heat had been watching for a while and who signed in free agency two years ago. The Heat also showed interest in Kevin Love, another player. Could Gordon Hayward of the Hornets, another player the Heat almost had, exhibit the same tendency?
It’s all conjecture at this point because we don’t know if Charlotte will choose to sell off veteran players in light of their 7-18 record or if they’ll keep acting as though the playoffs are imminent. It’s been the latter in recent years.
But, as is well known, Riley was once obsessed with getting Hayward to Miami and came dangerously close to having him available for free agency. Given the current roster of the Heat, it might be worth considering that option again.
