When the New York Mets played the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen couldn’t resist making fun of quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets.
Without providing a reason, Aaron Rodgers skipped the Jets’ required minicamp. However, head coach Robert Saleh stated that he and the 40-year-old quarterback “are on the exact same page,” as reported by ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
Cohen trashed the four-time league MVP at Wednesday’s Mets vs. Marlins game at Citi Field by merely inquiring as to whether he was beneath ESPN analyst and close buddy Pat McAfee’s couch:
Cohen laughed and said, “Is he like under Pat McAfee’s couch or something?”
Weekly appearances by Aaron Rodgers on “The Pat McAfee Show” were discontinued.
Aaron Rodgers is getting ready for the Jets’ second season.
As the 2023 season got underway, there was a lot of anticipation and fanfare surrounding Rodgers and the Jets. Regretfully, he was forced to miss the remainder of the year after sustaining an Achilles tear mere minutes into his New York debut.
The league’s longest current postseason drought reached 13 years in Rodgers’ absence. They had a losing season for the seventh straight year, finishing 7–10.
To strengthen the offence around Aaron Rodgers, the Jets have recruited offensive lineman Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, Mike Williams, and John Simpson. The AFC East team will play Rodgers’ childhood team, the San Francisco 49ers, on “Monday Night Football” to kick off the 2024 season.
