West Ham and Nottingham Forest are both interested in Rennes defender Adrien Truffert, according to L’Equipe.
The French publication reported online (27 July) that both Premier League clubs are in the process of preparing an offer for the left-back.
However, according to Le Parisien (27 July), Rennes want to keep hold of the 21-year-old and have begun discussions with the France international over a contract extension, with the player currently considering his options.
Monaco and Real Sociedad have both expressed interest in Truffert, but this has so far come to nothing.
Talented
It is clear that Truffert is a talented young player with interest in his services coming from all across Europe.
David Moyes’ men are in need of a new full-back and a move for the Ligue 1 player makes sense, especially given his youth and therefore ability to develop into a key player in East London.
An injury in March kept the player out for the remainder of the season, a real blow as he appeared to be cementing his position as the club’s first-choice left-back, having started 24 of his 28 league appearances last season.
Truffert has already played 87 times in Ligue 1 and has European experience, including five Champions League appearances, all at the age of 21. He has scored four times and provided 14 assists so far in his career and has already made his debut for the France national team.
If West Ham are to secure his signature they will need to act fast with the player clearly a wanted man.
