EAGAN, Minn. (AP) – Josh McCown, an 18-year NFL veteran who has played for 12 clubs, was hired by the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday to coach their quarterbacks.
Chris O’Hara, who coached the Vikings’ quarterbacks in 2022–2023 is currently the pass game expert. McCown’s first season as an NFL assistant was spent coaching Carolina’s quarterbacks.
Arizona selected the 44-year-old McCown in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft. In the final regular-season game of 2003, McCown famously defeated the Vikings with a last-play touchdown pass to Nate Poole, preventing them from making the postseason. Entering his third season as head coach of the Vikings, Kevin O’Connell was McCown’s quarterbacks coach with Cleveland in 2015.
