BBC NEWS: The fact that the Toffees and Forest sanctions might not be decided until after the season bothers Luton chief, considers it “mental.”

The FA has charged both of the relegation opponents.

The manager of Luton, Rob Edwards, has called it “crazy” that the teams vying to remain in the Premier League would not know at the end of the season the level they will be in because both Everton and Nottingham Forest could lose points.

The Toffees’ original 10-point punishment was recently lowered to six, pulling them further out of the drop zone. However, more accusations have been brought against both the Reds and the Toffees for purported violations of profit and sustainability policies. These claims need to be heard by April 8, but the result of any appeal might not be known until May 24, which is five days after Town’s season-ending match against Fulham in the top league, implying that individuals at the bottom of the campaign might not know where they would play next term when it ends. Speaking about that prospect today, Edwards expressed his optimism that it will not ultimately have an impact on the Hatters, stating, “It is new for all of us, is not it really? It is unusual and challenging.”

“We inside need to focus just on ourselves, even if I know it is fascinating for everyone outside of it. It is strange, and it is even stranger that it might still be continuing at the conclusion of the season. That seems crazy to me! However, our goal is to complete our work in such a way that, at the end, we are not even mentioned in that discourse. That is what we are attempting to achieve. Everyone is aware that we must abide by the rules now that they are established, even if no one likes to see points deducted.

Nottingham Forest, who have played one more game than Luton, are now four points ahead of them in the redesigned standings, placing them fourth from the bottom. By tomorrow when Town kicks off against Aston Villa at 5.30 p.m., that will be two matches. Nuno Espírito Santo’s team will travel to Anfield to kick off at 3 p.m. against leaders Liverpool. Edwards will not be too concerned with what happens elsewhere before Luton’s matchup with Unai Emery’s top four chasers, as Everton and Brentford, who are both five points ahead, play West Ham and Chelsea, respectively, beforehand.
