This is the third time this season that Forest has lost after leading. On Saturday, they lost again.
Although it was earlier said today that the hierarchy is still relatively calm behind the scenes, Cooper is now rumored to be under pressure.
In a piece published by The Athletic, it’s claimed that Lopetegui has admirers on the board at Forest.
However, they also claim that any new appointment would need to be viewed as an upgrade on Cooper.
The 43-year-old Welshman has a lot of respect among the Forest fan base and the board would want any new appointment to be seen as progression.
Following his departure from Wolves in August, Lopetegui has not had a job.
It was believed that he had mutually agreed to leave because he wasn’t pleased with the club’s board’s lack of support.
Cooper needs to deliver outcomes at Forest quickly.
As they say, “There’s no smoke without fire,” and Cooper is once again the target of conjecture.
It was once reported during the previous season that Patrick Vieira was being considered as his replacement, which would not have gone over well.
The decision by Forest to remain with the man who has done wonders at the City Ground was well-liked by the supporters.
Naturally, Lopetegui would be at the top of the list at Forest if they decided to give Cooper
and there is respect from some people in high positions at Forest.
Right now, however, Cooper can only focus on doing what he knows best at the City Ground and that’s winning matches.
