The New York Mets’ young power hitter was officially confirmed to have reached a significant milestone this season.

In 2024, the youthful power batter for the New York Mets is anticipated to reach a significant milestone for the first time.

One of the most talented young bats in the league is on the New York Mets, and in 2024 he may accomplish a significant first.

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report examined the league and identified ten players who might reach the 30-home run threshold in 2024. It was easy to choose the player he selected for the Mets.

Francisco Alvarez, who hit 25 home runs in 123 games, emerged as a star in 2023. Though it would make sense, he is the next player from New York to attain the milestone.

Through the first nine games of the season, he had one home run. If he were to play every game of the season, that would put him on pace for an 18-home run season. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he is having a worse season at the plate than he did last year.

The 22-year-old catcher has a higher batting average and on-base plus slugging percentage than he did during his 2023 campaign.

He has some gotten some luck at the plate when looking at is expected batting average, but even then, things still look to be a bit better.

Alvarez’s strikeout-to-walk ratio still needs work, but if he can raise everything else then it might be worth the slight drop in home runs.

He could also catch fire and still reach the mark like Reuter expects him to. As he noted, Alvarez is a very streaky player, and that can be hard to project.

No single player on the team has had a particularly amazing year in terms of hitting the long ball, with Pete Alonso hitting three and Brandon Nimmo as the only other Met with at least two.

The young catcher has proven to be a power bat in his limited time playing Major League Baseball, and he’s certainly a player who could have a breakout season in 20.
